“I was born in Santa Cruz La Laguna, a small town in the western highlands of Guatemala. My passion for sewing is a craft I´ve been mastering throughout my life. I have done many things in his life besides sewing, including making and selling ice cream, driving as a chauffeur, and playing drums in a marimba band. Recently, I´ve been teaching sewing methods to students at a school in my town. I teach them how to make everything from bags to napkins to huipiles (traditional blouses). I´m happy teaching students a skill I know will help them earn more money and help lift Santa Cruz out of poverty. I am 65 years old, married, have 7 children, and 14 grandkids!”
